Sorry folks for taking so long to get this tutorial done. With the kids being off school and Mr Ali determined to get them out and about, rain or shine, it kinda slipped. Hope it's straightforward enough. Any questions, please ask.

Start off with an A4 piece of card. Score it down the middle to make an A5 card.

Next, score at each side of the centre score, at the next scoreline on your board. Mine is about2cm from the A5 scoreline.

Now fold your card inside out at the centre A5 scoreline.

Now fold each of the scorelines at either side the other way (in accordian fashion)

Your card should now be lying the correct way, with the outside front facing you and a neat inward fold at the bottom. Now take your ruler and measure in 3cm at the top of the card, on each side. Hold the ruler and carefully cut with a craft knife at each side. This will give you your basic handbag.

Hopefully it will look like this

Punch or prick two holes near the top of the front of the bag. These are for a cord or ribbon handle to go through.

Thread your handle through each hole and secure inside the card with tape. This will be covered up later when you stick in the insert.

Now turn the card, the front facing you. Select a piece of thick ribbon or a strip of heavy paper, about 8cm longer than the front top of the card. Thread through a buckle if you are going to be using one and let it lie at the centre of the ribbon. Stick ribbon to the top of the card with double sided tape, leaving equal amounts at each side.

Turn the card so that the back is facing you. At each end of the ribbon, place a self adhesive velcro dot (fuzzy half). These will be used to close the card.

Now stick both sides of the ribbon, with the self adhesive part of the other half of the velcro dot (the honeycomb half) to the back of the card and press firmly so that the sticky side is secure.

Your basic handbag card is now ready to decorate with glitter, stamps, pens, stickers.....I usually tie a tag and some charms at the side of the bag with a piece of ribbon.

To open the card, gently pull the velcro apart.

You can now line the card with co-ordinating paper. I use the card as a template for the shape of the paper but trim a tiny bit around it so that it fits neatly inside. Only line the two sides and not the folds at the bottom as it becomes too bulky and doesn't sit properly.

This was the card I did for Marc, to give you an idea of how to decorate the front and inside. Enjoy!
